Renvoyer l’image dans d’autres directions que celle du regard initial impose la prise de conscience de l’orientation, de la mesure des angles et de la distance de fuite, surtout dans un espace vide comme celui d'une baie de sable.
En fait, cela m’a aidé à construire l’idée de l’alignement en parallèle à celle de la fragmentation de l’horizon.

Sending the image elsewhere than where one looks initially implies an awareness of orientation, of the measure of angles and distances of the vanishing point, above all in an empty space. Indeed, this helped me conceive the concept of alignment in parallel with that of the fragmentation of the horizon.

A force d’observer l’horizon et ses couchers de soleil, j’ai naturellement prolongé ma pratique de la fin du jour au passage à la nuit. Et comme la lune nous éclaire d’un soleil placé dans notre dos, je me suis mis à regarder ce spectacle à l’envers dans mes miroirs dont chacun exprimait par son cadrage une séquence différente de la chute attendue.
After watching the horizon and its sunsets a great many times, I naturally extended my practise from the decline of sunlight till sundown. And since we receive the moonlight via a sun placed in our backs, I took to watching this scene in reverse in my mirrors, each one of which expressing by its framing in a different sequence of the expected fall.

L’horizon nous entoure. Tourner la tête pour l’appréhender sous 360 degrés, nous oblige même si on fixe toujours le point central qui est en face de nous, à changer en permanence le rapport que l’on établit avec lui. Et alors que l’on fait l’effort de fixer l’image en son centre, à la périphérie de notre vision tout se bouscule et se déforme.
The horizon surrounds us. Turning you head to comprehend it at an angle of 360 degrees compels you, even if you stare to permanently stare at the central point in front of you, to change permanently the relationship you have with it. And while you make the effort to stare at the center of the image, at the periphery of our vision everything is jostled up and loses its shape.
