Comme dans l'ouverture grandiose d'un opéra où photographie et arts plastiques joueraient réciproquement leur partie, Baudouin COLIGNON nous invite à entrer dans l'espace imaginaire de la représentation.
Son installation oblige chaque spectateur à faire sa mise au point, à trouver le point focal à partir duquel toute notre vision de l'architecture de ce lieu s'organise selon un autre ordre que celui du réel, et, tout soudain, bascule en un univers baroque fait de contrepoints visuels.
"RECTO VERSO" fonctionne comme un tirage positif d'une photographie dont le négatif n'existerait que dans notre imagination.
Baudouin COLIGNON nous aide ainsi à mieux comprendre que depuis l'invention de la photographie l'un des rôles de l'art est de nous persuader que le réel n'est qu'un immense trompe-l'œil.

Like in (manque “dans” en français) the grand overture of an opera where (ou/où : coquille en français je crois) photography and plastic arts would each play their own part, Baudouin COLIGNON invites us to enter the imaginary space of performance.
His installation compels each viewer to adjust, to find the focus, to find the focal point from which our whole vision of the architecture of that place is organized according to a different order from that of reality and, all of a sudden, swings into a baroque universe made of visual counterpoints.
“RECTO/VERSO” works like the print of a photography whose negative would only exist in our imagination.
Baudouin COLIGNON helps us understand that since ever since the invention of photography, one of the roles of art is to persuade us that reality is nothing but a huge trompe l’oeil.
